Off road, cross country, makadam!!

Yipppiieee. It’s been a while since my last post due to my routinity and other extra activity (include my speedy was broken and I couldn’t access the internet).

Anyway, in this January Alhamdulillah I have a new ‘toy’, boytoys actually. After planning and considering our family savings, I finally could (read: allowed to) buy something  that I want for a long time ago. BICYCLE…!! 😀

I immediately planned a new activity, yeah bicycling. I was very passionate since I didn’t  venture on any place as long as I lived in Depok for last 8 month. Finally, the last weekend became my first time to enjoy bicycling in Depok. Fortunatelly, the weather was nice, it is bright but not too hot. Ok then, while the weather was still fresh, let’s rockin…..!!

Day 1, Saturday

My first route was actually to the Kubah Mas and Situ Babakan, but the weather wasn’t too nice. As the consequence, I changed the route to the forest of Indonesian University. Leaving home at 6.00 o’clock, the weather in Depok was very fresh, the dew was still observable.

*actually the real weather is not as dark as seen on this pict , it’s just the effect of the camera

After I went through the remoted route, I finally arrived at the forest of Indonesian University at 7.00 0’clock, as what as predicted before. At that place, I met many bicyclers who wanted to visit the forest too, so we all went together. The most exciting moment is,  although almost all bicyclers didnt know each other, but we always smiled and say hi to each other. It seldom happened when you rode vehicles at the street of Jakarta.. Soon after that, we arrived at destination. There was only one word to describe the place: AWESOME!! The track was still wet, there are some puddles, steep grades, big stones. So, we had to be careful. I could only say that it was really challenging (the next challenging job could be washing my bicycle then, hehehe). I abosultely having fun with dirt. 😀

*hold ur shock!!

Finally, this trip successfully enjoyed until 9.00 o’clock, I actually still wanted to play there, but I had to go home since I had to visit my neighbor for important event. Just took a rest for a while and enjoying fresh coconut water. Then, I went home. In the middle of my back home trip, I also came to RodaLink to purchase another equipment and placed my bicycle there. My bicycle was very dirty and the shopkeeper asked me: “Habis main di UI ya mas? full tanah gini sepedanya” hehe

After that, I rode “ojek” because I was afraid of coming late to my neighbor’s home. Finally, I arrived at home again at 10.00 a.m. This first day was successful and the distance of my trip was about 30 kms.

Day 2, Sunday

For this second day, I decided to go to common route in village so I did not have to make myself dirty and wet. I left home at afternoon since I had to wash my other vehicles at morning. I went at 2.30 p.m. and the destination was still the same, Kubah Mas. Unfortunately, my target was not achieved again today. When I looked at street in front of home, there was traffic jam. Finally, I decided to went through remoted route to go to new destination, Situ Babakan. Situ Babakan is a kind of artificial lake in Tanah Baru area. The situ is quite big. Bicycling to that place is quite hard since the street was steep. I’m not choose the usual road, I chose the remote route because I can watch beautiful scenery during my trip.

Arrived at Situ Babakan!!  I arrived at Situ Babakan at 4.00 p.m. By the way, you had to pay entry ticket for your car and motorcycle here, but the entry ticket for bicycle was free, hehe. The scenery at this place was very beautiful. There were many culinair here 😛 Even, I could find the boat rental to go to the middle of situ (at that time, I also imagined how fun it is to go to the middle of lake with my bicycle 😛 ).

I also sat there and enjoyed ice coconut water. While drinking coconut water, I talked with the seller and knew that many bicyclers relaxing at his stall on the weekend. After a little chitchat, I got information about the best bicycle route to the Margonda Street from the seller, I decided to try it. The route was very fun since there were few cars on the road (but it was also further). After arrived at Lenteng Agung Street, then I went to Margonda Raya and then Sawangan street. It was fun, but not quite nice since I passed the main street that was full of cars and bikes. There was traffic jam in certain spots. At 06.00 p.m., I arrived at home and took a bath. The second day was really fun. The total distance for this day trip was about 40 kms.

Yeappp, that’s all,  my weekend adventure of remoted place at Depok. Total distance for this weekend trip is aproximatelly 70kms. Bicycling was very fun. It gave us new experience, new challenge, new route, new friends and of course, it made our body fit. Hopefully, I could get more friends to enjoy next “gowes” session so we could try various routes together. Interested? 😀
